How much does a tow cost in Houston?

How much does a tow cost in Houston?

There isn’t one price to list because the operator who accepts the job confirms the total before sending a truck. The operator prices roadside services like jumps, tire changes, lockouts, and fuel during the call. RV, heavy-duty, specialty transport, and long-distance jobs receive individual quotes. As a reference, the City of Houston’s non-consent tow rate (Municipal Code Ch. 8, effective Jan 1, 2026) is $232 for the first 20 miles and $4.64 per mile beyond that. Under 16 TAC Ch. 85, Texas limits a private-property non-consent light-duty tow to $272.

Are there added charges for nights, weekends, or holidays?

The line is answered at any hour. Before a truck is sent, ask the operator about night, weekend, or holiday fees and confirm the total.

What payment methods do you accept?

Before sending a truck, the operator confirms how you can pay. Texas rules say nonconsent drop fees must accept cash, credit, and debit.

Can I use insurance or a motor club?

Call your insurer or motor club first if your plan includes roadside coverage, allowing the tow to be billed through that plan. Tow Pro Houston provides dispatch and referrals and isn’t a motor-club contractor. Without coverage, call (346) 443-5499 to be matched with an operator who quotes the job before rolling.

How fast can you get to me?

How fast can you get to me?

Timing varies with your location, current traffic, and which operator is nearest when the call comes in. A number can’t honestly be promised without first knowing where you are. Call with your actual location so the available operator can assess the situation instead of relying on a script.

What areas do you cover?

Across the Houston metro, callers can request a match from Galveston through the Bay Area and Clear Lake, the Ship Channel and refinery corridor, Sugar Land and Fort Bend, the Katy Freeway and Energy Corridor, plus North Houston, Montgomery County, and the Inner Loop.

Do you respond to freeways?

Yes. Houston-area highway coverage includes I-10 (the Katy Freeway), I-45 North and South, Loop 610, Beltway 8, US-290, SH 225, and the Grand Parkway. When a state trooper or HPD controls the scene, the tow follows that agency’s process. For a private request from a freeway shoulder, the line connects you directly with an independent operator. If your vehicle breaks down on a Houston freeway, Tow and Go provides a free tow to a safe location.

Stranded near Galveston or in an outer suburb?

The coverage area extends west to Katy and Fulshear, north to the Woodlands and Conroe, and south to Galveston and the Gulf Coast. When calling, share a pin drop or mile marker so the operator serving that zone can locate you.

Which tow truck does my car need?

Does my car require a flatbed or wheel-lift?

Every EV, AWD, and 4WD vehicle requires a flatbed, without exception. A wheel-lift is suitable for standard FWD or RWD sedans and most trucks. For safety, damaged, lowered, or luxury vehicles should use a flatbed. Share the year/make/model when calling so we can match you with the right truck.

Can you tow my Tesla or EV?

Yes. Every EV requires a flatbed because its drive motors remain engaged with the wheels. We match you with an operator equipped to move Teslas, Rivians, Mustang Mach-Es, Lucids, and Hummer EVs. When the battery is fully dead and transport mode won’t engage, the operator explains how the vehicle will be moved before hookup.

Do you tow motorcycles and RVs?

Yes. Soft straps and low-deck flatbeds are used for motorcycles. Heavy wreckers handle Class A, B, C motorhomes and fifth-wheels. During the call, we tell you which truck the matched operator will send.

Are long-distance tows available from Houston?

Yes. Houston trips commonly go to San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, Beaumont, and Galveston. Distance and vehicle determine the price of a long-distance run. Booking ahead is preferred because it helps the operator plan the driver’s route efficiently.

Is roadside assistance available beyond towing?

Can you jump-start my car?

Yes. We match you with licensed operators equipped for jump-starts. When the battery is the only problem, you can usually drive away afterward. If the battery or alternator has failed, the driver will explain that honestly and can provide a tow during the same call.

Will you change a flat tire for me?

Yes. The matched operator brings the needed tools and can install your spare when it’s safe. On freeways, a short tow to a safe lot may be safer.

Do you deliver fuel?

Yes. Operators can deliver gas or diesel for the drive to the nearest station. Before leaving, the operator confirms the service call and fuel cost.

Can you unlock my car?

Yes, for most standard vehicles. Certain newer vehicles with transponder keys need a dealer or locksmith. During the call, we’ll tell you whether we can match you with help or if a specialist is required.

Does my insurance pay for towing after a crash?

Does my insurance pay for towing after a crash?

Check with your insurer about coverage. After the tow, the operator can provide an invoice listing the scene, reason, and destination for your claim.

Can you coordinate service with local police and DPS?

Yes. Every kind of accident scene can be dispatched. When law enforcement is present, the operator coordinates removal and destination with the officer.

Can a vehicle be taken to the body shop I choose?

Yes. Give dispatch your chosen shop, dealer, or storage lot. The matched operator takes the car there, with longer hauls quoted before departure.

How do HOA and private-property towing arrangements work?

Can my HOA or apartment arrange a private-property deal?

Yes. We connect property managers with licensed operators who have written agreements with retail lots, homeowners associations, and apartment complexes throughout the Houston metro, where apartment towing is common. The property and operator decide what each agreement includes.

What if the city or private property had my car towed?

Houston doesn’t have one city impound lot. Vehicles are taken to a licensed private storage facility instead. Search your plate at findmytowedcar.com for city tows or findmytowedcar.org/harriscountytow for unincorporated Harris County. Under Texas law, you may seek a hearing for a non-consent tow by filing within 14 days of the tow.
